As created by Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation, Galentine’s Day occurs on February 13th and dedicated to taking time to celebrate lady friends. It’s a great counterpoint to Valentine’s Day, or, for those of us swingin’ singles, a replacement!
This year, since my roommate, a dear college friend, and myself all found ourselves footloose and fancy free on the fourteenth of February, we decided to have a Galentine’s Weekend to observe this season of lo~ve with some festivities focused on friendship (high-five for alliteration?).
How you celebrate Galentine’s is, of course, deeply personal, just like the celebration of Valentine’s is! For us, there were some clear themes: chocolate, playing with makeup, creativity, and non-stop nerdery. There were helpful cats, false eyelashes, fondue, mimosas, and a healthy dose of Harry Potter. What more could a girl want?
I hope you had a great time celebrating this weekend with your loved ones, whether they be romantic or platonic!
